Origins of surname
The surname Allez is derived from the Frankish female name Adalgis, which in English became Alice.
The name first appears in Jersey records in the mid 18th century, with the baptism of Anne (1748- ) and Marie (1750- ), daughters of Jean Allez and Anne Alexandre. Jean came to Jersey from Guernsey and it is believed that the couple were already married.
Of the first five Jersey marriages of Allez grooms, at least four were from Guernsey.
