This family name is synonymous with the town Binnington in East Yorkshire, and literally means the farm of Binning

The first Binnington arrived in Jersey at the end of the 19th century. The family were prominent hoteliers in the island throughout the 20th century, owning the Chelsea Hotel in Gloucester Street
