Origins of surname
This surname had medieval English origins, but ultimately comes from the Roman Constantius.
This is a surname of some antiquity in Jersey. It was first recorded in Grouville church records in 1589, with the first of several baptisms of the children of Thomas Conett and Collette. What is remarkable is that although there are 48 Conett baptisms from then until the mid-18th century, there are no recorded marriages, and only a handful of burials for the surname Conet.
