Origin of Surname

The De Jersey surname is clearly the name of someone who originally came from Jersey. It is quite common in Guernsey, and a Thomas De Geresi can be found in the Extente des Iles (1274).

The name is rarely found in Jersey itself, but has been used as a family name at the baptism of foundling babies, abandoned by their mothers.
