Origin of Surname

The Guernsey Surname De Putron is clearly of French origin but its precise source is obscure.

The earliest mention of the name in Guernsey was Androit de Puteron, jurat of St Peter Port in the Assizes Roll of 1309. In the Extente of 1331 he is said to be the fourth son of Ranulf (Rauf) de Puteron, tenant en Bordage Cornet.
