This Brunet family, which arrived in Jersey as late as 1821, is not connected with the family which was present in the island from 1702.

It provides a classic example of how unreliable transcriptions of Jersey church records can be. In eight baptism records of the children of Jacques and Susanne Guyon, Jacques is shown six times as Jacques and twice as James, evidence of the progressive anglicisation of personal names during the 19th century. But his wife is shown once, correctly as Susanne Guyon, three times as Guiyon, once as Guillon and twice as Gurzon.

There is some disagreement over whether Jacques' ancestry was as shown in the tree below. At least one French online tree shows him as married in 1813 to Marie Soupizon and having three children between 1815 and 1820. Marie Soupizon died in 1823, so it is possible that Jacques left his children with family members and moved to Jersey, marrying there for the second time in St Peter in August 1823. This would not explain the birth of Jacques and Susanne's first child in 1821. It is also possible that Jacques abandoned his first wife and family and only married Susanne when he became aware that his first wife had died
