  2. No burial has yet been found for Anne Mauger. However, a Helier de Gruchy of St Laurence m (1812, St B) Susanne de Caen of St Brelade. This may be Helier in a second marriage

  4. Born in St Lawrence, he settled at Bethel House, Val de la Mare, St Peter, where he was a Farmer
  5. Master mariner who retired to Val de la Mare. The 1911 St Peter Census mentions that he and his wife had been married 28 years but had no issue
  6. Marriage reference: RP 369/232 and Helier Amice's will, dated 1912, probate 1917
  7. John Charles was of Bethel House, St Peter, where he farmed. The 1911 census states that he and Marie were childless

  17. Dates of birth for Winter Philippe`s three children are based on ages, as given in the Guernsey Census, 1911. Eunice may be the Eunice Blanche de Gruchy, spinster, to whom Administration was granted on the death in England of Summer Charles de Gruchy, 1944
  18. Settled in England and apparently without issue. Administration on death at West Ham, Essex, of Summer Charles de Gruchy was granted to Eunice Blanche de Gruchy, spinster
  19. Carpenter; living 1871, unmarried, with his brother Helier`s family. In the 1881 census, St Helier, he was probably the deaf General Hospital Inmate of this name, aged "50", and "born St Lawrence"; unmarried
  20. Shipwright (Ship`s Carpenter), First Tower, 1851. Died before the 1861 census. He was doubtless the Philippe de Gruchy who died of consumption aboard the brig William of Jersey, (William Bisson, owner), on the 6th July 1859, a mere two months after his son, John, died of a related illness

He later purchased from the Crown 25 acres of land at Lundy [Property Register Book 11, 231 at Guysborough Record Office, N.S.]. He was for 16 years Postmaster at Junction, Lundy

  30. Ann Clark Smith died as the "widow of John de Gruchy", so her husband predeceased her
  31. Gardener in 1901 St Helier Census. Seemingly went to England by 1911 and returned to Jersey not long before the German occupation
  32. The 1911 Census states that Florence Maud de Gruchy, then aged 3 years and born in St Lawrence, was a niece who had been adopted by Francis and Clara Godfray, who were perhaps maternally related to the girl. Her 1934 marriage entry names her father as John Clark de Gruchy. That same census also states the latter was born in St John--probably a mistake on Godfray`s part
