Descendants of Lucas Ahier

The link between Jean Ahier at Generation 4 and his son Jean at generation 5 has been called into question. The marriage record for Jean to Mabel Godel shows the groom as 'son of Nicolas', but the baptism records show the only Jean born in 1614 to have been the 'son of Jean'.

There are no records of a Nicolas Ahier around this period and a Public Registry entry - see Discussion tab - confirms the link from Jean to Jean.

We do not know why the marriage record refers to Nicolas, but we have had further confirmation from an independent source that the tree is accurate. We now have greater confidence in the tree but would still advise researchers to treat the early generations of the tree with some suspicion. Several of the dates in the early generations are open to question
