Julien Francois and his wife Victoire Francoise (gen 4) appear in the 1871 Jersey census living in Trinity with their first two children, Victorine Anne Marie and Jules Yves Marie, who are listed in this and subsequent censuses as being born in Trinity. However, the births were not registered in Jersey and it is only the fifth of the couple's children, Jean Francois, who does appear in the parish register.

It is difficult to read Victoire's surname in the couple's marriage record on the right. It appears more like Le Huran than Le Heran, but although both surnames exist in Brittany, Le Heran is much more common in Ploeuc-sur-Lie, where the couple were married in November 1869. This is also her maiden name shown in the 1881 Jersey census. If Victorine was aged two at the time of the 1871 census, the marriage would have been some months after her birth. It is possible that she was born in Jersey and the couple, possibly seasonal workers to begin with, returned to France to marry. It is also possible that the first four of their children were actually born in France and that the couple moved backwards and forwards between Ploeuc and Jersey as did so many contemporary seasonal workers from Ploeuc, before finally settling in the island.
