Descendants of Thomas Bisson
TreeIcon.png

This preliminary tree, added to the site by Guy Dixon in April 2019, has yet to be tested against the Land Registry. It is therefore to be regarded as provisional. The intention is to complete the research and hopefully to place those mentioned on this tree within The Bissons of Trinity, in the autumn of 2019

Notes and references

  1. Buried as “Susanne Noel femme Thomas” [Bisson]
  2. Godparents: Jean Noel and his wife, probably the infant`s grandparents
  3. Buried as “Susanne Noel, widow of Thomas Bisson”
  4. Susanne`s mother`s name had been written “Elizabeth Noel” in the Trinity Register, then crossed out and amended to “Susanne” Noel. Her godparents were Jean Amy and Susanne Bisson, his wife
  5. Jean Noel of St Martin was Jean`s godfather
  6. Godparents: Jean Bisson and his wife, probably grandparents
  7. Elizabeth was described on christening as “fille Thomas and ( -- ) Noel, sa femme”. This is the first mention of the surname of Thomas Bisson senior`s wife, prior to her burial
  8. Godparents: Jean Larbalestier and Marie Bisson, his wife; the latter was probably Marie Bisson (1680- ), daughter of Jean, the infant`s aunt
  9. A space of twelve years exists here between marriage and conception of what was to be the first-born child, Philippe. This is medically quite feasible and infertility may have been due to viral causes or other health problems in either party, this later rectifying itself. No evidence of two Philippe Bisson to Marie Hocquard marriages has been found
  10. Godparents: Edouard Bisson and Esther Hocquard, his wife. These were relatives of the Hocquards, rather than Bissons
  11. Godparents: Jean Bisson and Esther Hocquard, his wife. These were also Hocquard, rather than Bisson, relatives
  12. Godparents: Edouard Bisson and Marie, his sister. These were the infant`s uncle and aunt
  13. Godparents: Philippe Bisson and Marie Hocquard, his wife, being the grandparents
  14. Godparents: Charles Bisson [his mother was Esther Hocquard] and Jeanne Nicolle, his wife
  15. Godparents: Jean Bisson [1753-1781] fils Edouard and Elizabeth Hocquard. The godfather had a Hocquard mother
