Origins of surname

Doublet is French for a precious stone, but it is not clear how the surname could be derived from that.

Early records

Alfred Adolphe Doublet and his wife Victorine Constance Le Mazurier arrived in Jersey from Coutances some time between 1860, when their first son Albert was born there, and 1868, when their second son Edouard Georges was born in Jersey. However, we have found no trace of any birth or baptism records for the family whose tree appears below.

Variants

  • Doublet

The following supposed variants of Dolbel have also been associated with Doublet by some researchers, but we believe that Dolbel and Doublet are distinct families in Jersey

  • Dulbel 1309
  • Dubel 1309
  • Delebel 1299
