Origins of surname

There are several places with this name in a number of English counties. It is derived from the old English fearn = 'fern' and hamm = 'low-lying meadow.

Early records

The first appearance of this surname in Jersey records was the marriage of William Farnham and Elizabeth Burton in St Helier in 1831. They had three children baptised in St Brelade in 1832, 1835 and 1838
