Origins of surname
This is a surname from the Seine-Maritime department of Upper Normandy. Folain, Folin, Follin. It seems to have been derived from a personal name associated with the village of Follainville. It may also be derived from the female Germanic personal name Fulla, although this is by no means certain.
The name first appears in Jersey parish records in the 1870s with the arrival of Auguste ( see tree below) his marriage to rachel Mauger and the birth of their nine children in St Mary.
