Origins of surname

This name was given to somebody who made small articles or musical instruments out of horn

Early records

The name first appeared in Jersey records in 1709, when Marie, the daughter of unknown parents, was baptised in St Brelade.

There were two families in St Helier in the 1770s but no descendants of their children have been identified. It was well into the 19th century before a family became established.
