Origins of surname

This surname is locational, derived from a number of places in the south of England, and means 'the long hill'.

Early records

The first appearance of this surname in Jersey records was the marriage of Peter Langdon and Mary Jane Cornwall in St Helier in 1843. The following year their son Peter was baptised in St Helier. Also in 1843, John Langon and Hannah Bailey were married in St Helier. They had eight children baptised in St Helier, St Saviour and St Martin
