Origins of surname
A literal translation of the word would be the 'hider', from the French cacher = 'to hide', but that word seems not to exist. It is more likely that this is a corruption of chasseur, and that the original Le Cacheur was a hunter.
This family first appeared in Jersey records in the late 16th century, and appears to have died out by the mid 19th.
