Origin of Surname

Neveu is French for nephew, suggesting that the name arose out of a desire to distinguish between close family members.

Early records

The earliest Le Neveu baptism in Jersey was in Grouville in 1614, but this was the only baptism in the parish, the majority of the family having been baptised in neighbouring St Clement over the years. As the family tree below shows the family can be traced back into the 16th century.
