Origins of surname
Although other less compelling origins have been suggested, we believe the derivation of this name to be from someone who lived on a moor.
Watchmaker Francis Charles Slade Moorman was the first to arrive from Cornwall in about 1809. He married a Jersey girl, but he was already married and had a family in Cornwall.
