Origins of surname
Musgrove is a surname of Anglo-Saxon origin, connected to the villages in Westmorland called Great and Little Musgrave.
They must have been overrun by rodents at some stage because the name is made up of the old English mus = ‘mouse’ and grove = ‘grove’.
