Historic Environment Record entry
Listed building
Townhouse/shop with 18th century origins, retaining historic character and features.
This is an important building as it forms the corner at the foot of the High Street and is highly visible from Mont Les Vaux. Three-storey rendered building with its gable fronting on to Mont Les Vaux and its side, four-bay, elevation starting off the terrace that runs up the High Street. The building has a pitched roof with clay pantiles and 2 visible velux rooflights.
In the gable façade the wall at ground level sweeps out in a curve beyond the line of the gable above and forms a shop front which retains its original detail. There are three granite steps rising up from the pavement into the shop. The flat roofed area over this single storey projection has signs that there must have been an original roof terrace as there are two pairs of french doors, with camber tops to the upper panes, which are clearly original.
