Origins of surname

The "parchier" or "parquier" was the keeper of the hunting parks of kings and wealthy landowners, and became parker when brought to Britain after the Norman Conquest.

Early records

An online tree suggests that George Parker and his wife Margery Carpenter, of Southampton, had two children baptised in Jersey in 1571 and 1575, but we have been unable to confirm this from Jersey records. Jean Parker and Jeanne Gaudin were married in Grouville in n1712. Another Jean married Marie Mauger in St Helier in 1724 and they had three children baptised in the parish from 1727 to 1734, but not further descendants are on record.
