Origins of surname
This is an English surname related to the village of Pinwill in Leicestershire. It is from the old English for 'penny spring, penning and waella, possibly also translating as clear spring and holy spring.
The first baptisms in Jersey start in 1828 in St John, and the name has appeared almost exclusively in that parish.
