Origin of Surname

Voisin is French for neighbour.

Early records

The family is well established in Jersey and best known for Voisin's department store. The proprietors of this family business, founded in 1837, and all the other Voisins in the island, are believed to descend from Louis Voisin, who emigrated to the island as a religious refugee with his son and grandson around 1690 (see tree below).
