Origins of surname

This was a baptismal name first, a diminuitive of William

Early records

The name appeared in Jersey church records from 1805 onwards, but has never become established in any significiant numbers. There are 11 housholds today, probably the largest number at any time, although whether any of them can tract their line back to earlier families in Jersey is doubtful.
