A mailing list for those interested in Channel Island families
A mailing list linking those throughout the world who are interested in tracing their ancestry to Channel Island families was established in February 1980. It is hosted by Rootsweb, an organisation providing an enormous amount of free information for family historians.
The Channel Island list is free and easy to join. Just send an email to CHANNEL-ISLANDS-Lfirstname.lastname@example.org with the single word subscribe in the message subject and body. To join CHANNEL-ISLANDS-D, which provides a daily digest of messages rather than sending you each email individually, do the same thing with CHANNEL-ISLANDS-Demail@example.com.
Before sending off your first email request for help with your family history research from other list members, it used to be possible to take time to study the list's archive, perhaps finding an answer to your query in the messages sent last month, last year, five years ago, ten years ago or even 20 years ago when the list was started. However, the old links to the site's archive search engine and month-by-month browsing are no longer functioning and we have deleted them from this page.
Even Rootsweb's own internal index no longer provides access to the Channel Islands list archive. We hope that the email links above are still functioning, but must warn that the group is now virtually inactive and it is more likely that you will find answers to your queries on Jerripedia's pages rather than through the mailing list.
