Brittany
From theislandwiki
Brittany is the region of France to the south and south-west of Jersey. Independent from the French monarch for much of its history, it had much closer ties to the British Crown for long periods. Although Jersey has usually had much closer links to Normandy, connections with Brittany have also been strong and several long-established Jersey families are known to have originated from there.
The chief port of north-east Brittany is Saint Malo, which has long been Jersey's most important maritime link with France.
