Origin of Surname

The Carey surnames is believed to originate from the Manor de Carrey in Lisieux, Normandy. The first reference in Guernsey is Johan Caree who was a Coustoumier (lawyer) in St Martins in 1288.

Since that time, the family has prospered in Guernsey, with members of the family serving the island as Bailiffs, Jurats and Deans of Guernsey.
