Notes and references
- ↑ Cabinet maker
- ↑ The identity of Philip's wife is not certain, but he travelled to New York in 1839, accompanied by 'Jane'. There were two Philip Normans baptised in 1811 and it seems likely that this one was the son of Jean and Elizabeth L'Amy, baptised in St Peter in 1811. The other one emigrated to Gaspe and married there. Jane Norman, who became an American citizen, returned to Jersey with her son John Philip, and then took him back to New York on the George Washington when he was four years old. He appears to have returned to Jersey before his 19th birthday and remained there after marrying Amelia Marett
