Notes and references
- ↑ There were two Philippe Bissons baptized in 1760, each with a father named Philippe. One of the fathers had married Marie Hocquard--see Descendants of Thomas Bisson--and the other Elizabeth Le Dain. The date "1760" sometimes given as "1761" does not help. It appears on online trees, but without any cited reason. It is therefore unreliable and should be regarded as estimated. It should be noted that this page has been independently researched by a member of the Jerripedia team, using primary sources. Philippe Bisson`s date of death is not yet known
- ↑ Master Mariner. He was almost certainly the Philip Bisson, Owner and, in 1790-1791, Master of the 29 ton Ceres, which was from 1790 to 1795 in the Guernsey trade, Master in 1792 of Charles Chevalier`s 36 ton brig Mary Anne and owner from 1792 of the 52 ton Newfoundland-built brig Good Intent, of which he was also Master. John Jean lists him among Jersey`s Principal Shipowners in the 19th century, and as an owner from 1790-1826: J. Jean, Jersey Sailing Ships, (Chichester: Phillimore & Co, 1982), 116, 130, in which work there is also featured Charles Bisson and Le Couteur Bisson, below
- ↑ Godparents: Mr Jean Benest, Grandfather, and Mse Anne Benest, Aunt. The widowed Elizabeth was living at the time of the 1851 St Helier Census at Albert Cottage, George Town, with her widowed mother Elizabeth, nee Benest, and her widowed sister-in-law Elizabeth, nee Reed, both of whom were called by their married names, Bisson, in the usual English manner of the censuses. Elizabeth Monamy, as she then was, was named as the "daughter", but of which, the enumerator was evidently uncertain. It did not help that the ages, as recorded, of the two younger Elizabeth`s were incorrect
