This tree, which was added to the site in 2016 and reviewed in 2019, originates in Dorset in the 15th century. It is from the Dorset hamlet of Guppy that the family name originated. Robert Guppy, the first to come to Jersey, was a brick maker.

The resting place of Albert Edward Ennis Guppy who was killed in action in WW1. Corporal Guppy, 2nd/18th Battalion, London Irish Rifles the third son of James and Sarah Guppy of 61 St Johns Road, St Helier, and widower of Emily, nee Cabot, died on 23 November 1917 aged 32 years. The announcement in the Evening Post at the time said: 'It is with deep regret we announce the death of Lance Corporal Albert Edward Ennis Guppy of the London Regiment which took place on 23 November last during the fighting in Palestine. The deceased gallant soldier was formerly employed by Mr Smith, aerated water manufacturer, and joined up over two years ago in the Royal Army Medical Corps. He was in Dublin during the rebellion and later transferred to the London Regiment, with whom he proceeded to France in June 1916. He afterwards served in Salonika and later took part in the fighting in Palestine, leading up to the capture of Jerusalem. Letters were received in Jersey from the Corporal as late as Friday last so that the shock the parents received yesterday when they received the official notification of his death in action can be imagined.' Albert Guppy was survived by two young daughters born in 1907 and 1911, the year his wife died.

Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the yellow Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.
