This picture was all that we had on the page until late 2020, when more information was obtained about Floriana. We said that it was something of a mystery. Was it an orphanage? This picture was taken by Ernest Baudoux, which dates it to between 1869 and 1885. Clearly the people were more important for the photograph than the property, which we now know is still in existence today, under the same name, and little changed externally. We had been unable to find it in an almanac listing, or establish whether it is in St Lawrence or St Peter, through both of which parishes the road passes. We now know that was because it is set back from the western end of the road, just inside the St Brelade boundary

A good example of an elegant detached mid-19th century seaside villa, mid-19th century stable with later 19th century coach house extension, which retain fine original features and historic character.

Set back from road, with front garden. House, two-storey, three-bay plus a recessed single-bay side wing. Balustraded parapet with slate hipped roof behind, with two sets of paired rendered chimneystacks. Three bays of French windows, with shutters, on first floor. Delicate ironwork balcony supported on slender columns. Ground floor has central door, flanked by French windows.

19th century coach house to rear, now converted to residential.
