Guernsey Cove, Prince Edward Island
From theislandwiki
Guernsey Cove, Prince Edward Island was settled in 1806 by 73 members of eight families from Guernsey.
Their interest was prompted by the visit of Lady Fanning, proprietor of land in the Pisquid area, visiting the island. When they arrived, they did not like Lady Fanning's land, but after further exploration, decided to settle in Guernsey Cove.
The original settlers included:
- Henry Brehaut, a cooper
- Daniel Machon
- William Sencabaugh
- de Jersey family
- Taudvin family
- Le Lacheur family
- Roberts family
- Marquand family
Over time the Taudin, Marquand and de Jersey lines died out, but the other families continued to live in the area.
