- ↑ Julia Marett graduated from Somerville College, Oxford, becoming a headmistress of a girls' school. In Jersey she became the Island`s leading genealogist, a role formerly held by the late Rev J A Messervy, but left vacant after the death of his widow. She also catalogued her family`s extensive collection of deeds, relating to numerous island families, now known as the La Haule Contracts. She became, in 1938, President of the Société Jersiaise, conducting research throughout the German Occupation, and using the time to transcribe the Island`s early court registers. She is remembered with great affection by those who knew her
