De Meules is included in the list in Jersey 1204 - The Forging of an Island Community, the book by Sir James Holt and Judith Everard, published in 2004 to mark the 800th anniversary of Jersy's break from Normandy in 1204.
He also appears in one of the main lists of Guernsey's Royal appointments, as a sub-warden, so his actual role in the islands must be in considerable doubt.
He was born in 1195 in Cadbury Manor, Somerset, where he died in 1271. He was the son of Roger de Meules and Roesia and married Hawise de Newmarch in 1232 in Cadbury, Somerset. They had a son Roger, born in 1233.
