Historic Environment Record entry

Listed building

A fine mid-late 18th century three-storey five-bay townhouse retaining exterior form and historic character. Shown on the Richmond Map of 1795.

The roof is of modern slates with large boxed dormers at front and rear, which disrupt the proportions of this otherwise fine house.

The gable chimneys are in coursed granite blocks with rubble on the return flanks; raised verges with moulded gable kneelers. Cast iron rainwater goods. Front has ground floor rendered and lined, with upper floors in granite rubble with squared grey (Chaussey) quoins and window dressings.

At first floor level there is a projecting balcony which has decorative iron, Gothic railings in authentic pattern. Central entrance door is of six panels with the bottom two flush and the upper panels glazed.
