Ships operating to and from the Channel Islands - G
Note: There were three passenger-carrying vessels called Great Western which were seen in Jersey waters. Although they were not given the designations I, II and III while they operated, they are generally distinguished in this way today. However, most maritime historians ignore the first vessel, a wooden paddle steamer which visited Jersey in 1850, and probably on other occasions, and use the designations I and II for the two later vessels, one an iron paddle steamer, one a twin screw steamer. We have followed this convention.
