St Helier House Hotel was on the corner of La Motte Street and Hilary Street. It was renamed the Imperial Hotel and held that name for many years.

Its entertainments room was called La Tonnelle and among the bands to perform there was the all-girl Marjorie and her Band in the 1930s.

The Imperial Hotel was owned by the Sutton family for decades with the adjoining premises being their other business, La Motte Garages (later renamed La Motte Ford). The Lily Langtry bar nestled between the two premises. Everything was sold when La Motte Ford moved to Victoria Avenue in the 1980s.
