Thomas Cafe 1817-1909
The nephew of the painter Thomas Smith Café (1793-1843), landscape artist Thomas Cafe painted regularly in Jersey and exhibited island scenes at the Royal Academy and the Society of British Artists between 1852 and 1855 including a painting of the coastline at La Rocque.
He was born in Hammersmith he spent some years in Edinburgh between 1838-1845 and sketched in Scotland with William Leighton Leitch. , A Well on the coast of Jersey and Grouville Bay. His eldest son, Thomas Watt Café, was also a painter.
