These photographs around Jersey's coastline were taken in October 1941 during a visit to the island by members of the Operations Section of the Supreme High Command of the German Army. The Oberkommando des Heeres had responsibility for strategic planning throughout the German Army. It is not clear whether these pictures were taken by an army photographer for official purposes, or were souvenir snapshots taken by a member of the visiting party. The poor quality of the images, even after digital enhancement, suggests the latter
