- ↑ Marriage record not found, but confirmed by baptism record of Pierre
- ↑ Merchant. He was the merchant who was in partnership with Peter de Carteret, in Arichat, Canada, engaged in the Maritime fisheries. Their 80 ton schooner in 1823 was named after Le Vesconte and his wife Jane, being the Peter and Jane. De Carteret was, at that time, still a bachelor. This firm owned, between 1823 and 1850, at least half a dozen ships and operated many fishing posts in and around Cape Breton Island. One vessel, a 75 ton brig, was named in 1831 Two Friends, a justified tribute to a firm well spoken of in Jersey circles. Late in life, de Carteret was to marry Le Vesconte`s daughter

- ↑ Master Mariner, Merchant and Politician in Canada: A. G. Jamieson (ed.), A People of the Sea, (London: Methuen & Co., 1986), 285-286, writes: "Another Jerseyman who went into Canadian politics was Isaac Le Vesconte. Born in Jersey in 1822, Le Vesconte was sent at the age of 12 to Arichat (Cape Breton Island) to work for the family firm of de Carteret and Le Vesconte in the cod trade. By the time he was 17, Le Vesconte was master of one of the firm`s ships trading to Puerto Rico. About 1855, Peter de Carteret returned to Jersey and Isaac Le Vesconte took charge at Arichat. Le Vesconte entered local politics in 1863, being elected to the Legislative Assembly as representative for Richmond County, in which Arichat was situated. He was financial secretary in the provincial administration of 1863-4...In 1865 Le Vesconte was one of the representatives of Nova Scotia on a British North American mission to open trade with the West Indies, Mexico and Brazil. He was elected to the Canadian House of Commons as member for Richmond in 1869. Le Vesconte resigned his seat in 1874 and died at Arichat in 1879." Marion Turk, The Quiet Adventurers in Canada, (Detroit: Harlo, 1979), 403, writes that Isaac Le Vesconte was Spanish consular agent at Arichat. His firm were also shipbuilders at Arichat: John Jean, Jersey Sailing Ships, (Phillimore & Co, 1982), 9
