Guernsey is the second largest of the Channel Islands

Introduction

Guernsey, the most westerly of the Channel Islands, is the main island of the Bailiwick of Guernsey and, as such, has administrative responsibilities for all the other islands with the exception of Jersey.

Guernsey is a largely self-governing dependency of the British Crown. It has no written constitution. It raises its own taxes and is almost entirely resposible for internal matters, although it is dependent on the British Government for international affairs and defence.
