An album of 1939 holiday photographs

Improved sea and air links and greater prosperity in pre-war Britain meant that Jersey was experiencing a tourism boom in 1939.
These photographs from an album assembled after a holiday at the Portelet Hotel illustrate just what a carefree time it was - a world away from what was to follow within a matter of weeks.
