Treasures of Jersey Heritage

Some of the items which will be featured in this new section are usually stored in the vaults of the Jersey Archive building. Others can be found elsewhere in Jersey Heritage storage areas and displays
This is an embryo page for a new section of Jerripedia which will highlight individual items and groups of similar items which are held in the Jersey Heritage collection.
Some will be on display at Jersey Museum, or other Heritage locations; some will have been brought out of storage to feature in this section.
As it builds we will divide the Treasures into separate categories, but to start off they are all being shown on this introductory page
We intend not just to feature individual items, but to delve into their history, where they came from, and how they came to be part of the Jersey Heritage collection
Health and Medicine Through the Years
Jersey Heritage stages regular ‘Meet the Collections’ events, which allow members of the public to see items from their collection which are not normally on display. In October 2023 the focus was on items with a general health theme, which could be seen during a morning visit to the Sir Francis Cook Gallery. Visitors could discover how medicine has progressed over the years and take a look at the extensive collection of doctor’s and dentist’s tools, medicine bottles, pharmaceutical objects and more.
Archive records were also on display, including hospital admission registers from the 19th century and prescription books.
