Historic Environment Record entry

Listed building

Late 19th century seaside villas with external applied ornamentation, elements of which survive, particularly the mouldings and bay window parapet. Good internal survival of carpenter's work.

The houses display the polite architecture of Victorian fashion.

One of two nearby identical pairs of late 19th century seaside villas with the pair further east: Playa d'Or and Riva Bella. Similar internal detailing to pair further east again La Greve and Vue des Rochers.

A mirrored pair, each two-storey, three-bay. Pitched slate roof, chimneys at ends, each rendered with cornice. Flights of granite steps up to central doors. Canted bay windows below balcony with ornamental pierced parapet on No 2.

Low granite garden wall, iron swan neck railings. Double pile, double fronted, central halls, with dog-leg staircases offset at right angle at rear of halls. No 1 converted to two flats and staircase removed.

Most four-panel doors survive with panel window reveals, deep skirtings, some dado and picture rails.
