Channel Queen
Channel Queen was a twin-screw vessel delivered to Onesimus Dorey's Plymouth, Channel Islands and Brittany Stemship Company by Robert Craggs and Sons, of Middlesborough, in September 1895.
She was 177 feet long and 24 feet beam, with a draft of 10 ft 6 in, and was driven by two triple expansion Westgarth, English engines which developed 800 hp and gave her a top speed of 16 knots, although she usually reached only 12 knots when in service.
She operated between Plymouth, Guernsey and Jersey carrying up to 100 passengers. She also operated to St Brieuc.
On 1 February 1898 she was en route to Guernsey when she struck the Roque Noire off the north coast and was wrecked. Twenty-one passengers and crew lost their lives.
