Descendants of Collas Arthur



This tree, first submitted to us in late 2015 and added to the site in February 2016, has been further amended to include elements of Descendants of Helier Arthur - 2, which was found to be incorrect in a number of respects, and has been deleted. We have also added siblings to several family groups based on church records.

We now believe that this is as accurate a tree as it is possible to compile for the Arthur family in St John from the 16th century onwards. There is room for confusion given the number of Heliers and Noes in the tree, and the disappearance of some St John transcriptions at the end of the 20th century. Helier (gen 6) who married Elizabeth Hamon is missing from baptism records but their marriage is shown in the St John register, as are the baptisms of the couple's children

The tree was reviewed again in October 2018 and dates and parishes of marriages added

New information, including a descendant line from Jean and Jeanne Archer at gen 9, whose descendants are in New Zealand, was added during a further review in 2021

Yet another review in July 2021 resulted in the addition of more details at the top of the tree and a second marriage for Philippe at generation 9 and a descendant line from that marriage

And another review by Mike Bisson in 2022 resulted in the addition of further details

A review by James Brannan in 2025 resulted in multiple additions to the tree, including two earlier generations

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records.
