This tree was added to the site in 2012 and reviewed in 2018. Records are found through this tree as Du Val and Duval. The review led to the tree having a further generation added at the top.

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content

Notes and references

  1. ↑ Carpenter. We have not been able positively to identify Philippe's parents. His marriage record shows him as being of St Peter, but there were only two Philippes born in St Peter at a time which would allow them to be Marie's husband. One was married to somebody else, leaving the Philippe baptised in 1760, the son of Jean Duval (1729- ) and Marie Vaudin, who married in 1753. This would have meant that Philippe was 48 when he married and 69 when his last child was born - not impossible, but unlikely in the early 19th century

The continuing ownership of La Caroline, where Philippe's four children were born (we have not found baptism records) and John and his wife and sister were living in 1941, confirms the descendancy as shown here. Philippe's will also names his wife as Marie Louise Blampied. The marriages of Philippe and John and the baptisms of the children are likely to have been in Methodist churches
