Descendants of Francois Le Calvez

Added 2017; reviewed 2019
This tree was supplied to us by a family member in 2017. It shows quite a common occurrence among Breton immigrant families. Desire Joseph and Marie Collett were married in France, moved to Jersey, where their first child was born, returned to France and had a daughter there, then moved permanently to Jersey and had eight more children.
Information on Desire's parents, as supplied and previously shown, was entirely incorrect, and involved an impossible gap in dates. Following research in French records to correct that error, a further four generations have now been added, taking the family back to the 17th century

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content
If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.
You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.
The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

Notes and references
- ↑ Further research suggests that Pierre was the son of Francois (1640- )
- ↑ Anne was the daughter of Yvon Luby and Aliette, nee Le Barbu. There is conflicting information about Catherine Le Du's ancestry, with some sources giving birth dates for Rolland and Anne in about 1580. That would make them Catherine's great-grandparents
- ↑ Vincent Guezou was the son of Yves (1693-1743) and Jeanne Dollo (1697-1772) and Marie Le Tallec was the daughter of Jacques (1687-1751) and Catherine, nee Morice (1690-1738)

- ↑ To USA
- ↑ Died on active service in WW2. There is some confusion over the circumstances of his death. Family sources show him killed at Dunkirk in 1940, but the updated Jersey roll of honour shows him as a 'matelot cuisinier' (ship's cook) on the French Destroyer Chacal, which was attacked by German aircraft off Iceland. Both versions give the date as 24 May 1940. His family have a photograph of him in Army uniform, which seems to support the Dunkirk version
