Descendants of Guilleaume Cabeldu



This tree was first added to the site in 2011, before church records were available for checking. A new tree, with a detailed descendancy from Jean Cabeldu and Jeanne Sebire (but not including the descendants of John Timothy - see note at bottom) was added to the site in 2017. We also added another tree Descendants of Guilleaume Cabeldu - 2 from a different source, which has additional details. What remains of this tree was checked against parish records.

We hope when time permits to merge the two trees, but in the meantime they need to be studied together, because each contains details not to be found in the other. Our review of the Cabeldu family page and trees in 2020 resulted in extra detail being added to this tree, but not to the later one

Cabeldu family page and links to other trees

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content

For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

  11. ↑ The tree previously included a substantial descent from John Timothy, largely without dates. We have not found a baptism record for John Timothy, but are satisfied that he was the son of Jean and Jeanne, nee Sebire, as shown. Online trees confirm his marriage in 1864 to Eliza, taken from UK census returns, but we suspect that her maiden name was not Cabeldu, as shown in those trees. The children and grandchildren of John Timothy and Eliza all appear to have been born in England, so in the absence of any dates, names of wives and other supporting details, we have deleted these generations from the tree
