Descendants of Guillaume Therin

This tree was added in 2021 by Mike Bisson following extensive research into Therin immigrants to Jersey from the Brittany town Ploeuc-sur-Lie in the second half of the 19th century. As far as we have been able to ascertain, there are no direct links to other Therin families in Jersey who originated in Ploeuc but research is continuing into whether there are common ancestors beyond the 18th century

This tree is largely based on the work of the late Colette Pirie, recognised by Mike Bisson as one of the formost researchers into links between Brittany and Jersey families. He extended the tree backwards from French records in 2025

In common with the majority of our trees, this descendancy has been subject to regular review by site editors and checked against Jersey church records. Trees including French ancestry have also been checked as far as possible against French primary records. It is not always possible to carry out such checks on sections of trees with United Kingdom and/or colonial content
